A brief introduction about me and this site is here. (The ranty version is here.)

Last week, my partner woke up one morning with the sudden proclamation that we should do stocking stuffers this year because it feels like just a "nod" to holiday gifting. (In general we aren't big holiday gifters but with a kid in the mix we've been thinking about new family traditions.) This sent me into CRISIS MODE because ya know, if we are going to have these stockings for the next 20 years, they better be NICE stockings! It was a bit late to order on Etsy at that point, so I decided to make stockings - obviously - since I just have soooo much free time on my hands. As an extremely mediocre sewer on my best day, I spent 3 nights after bedtime and dishes and laundry and pumping cutting fabric and sewing, and came out with these disproportionally cuffed, roughly edged, and comically small stockings that would maaaybe fit 4 bars of soap. Annnd that's the story of how we ended up with a stocking on our front door. Hey - it's December 20th, and we remain stocking-less, but at least we have rustic door decor 💁🏻‍♀️
Eco gifting part 3 | I think experience gifts are great. I think other people think experience gifts are great. I also think an email buried deep in your aunt's inbox declaring "Enjoy a lovely day at the spa! Happy Holidays!" is terribly uninspiring.
Eco gifting part 2 | Some of you might know that every fall my partner and I take a trip to Portland, Maine, basically to eat to our hearts’ content 😋 and we always come home loaded with our favorite local treats: bread from Rosemont Market, (refillable!) kombucha from Urban Farm Fermentory, beer from Bissell Brothers (among the dozens of wonderful breweries in Portland)…this year we took our trip in the spring pre-baby and discovered a shop that specializes in local seaweed! I had to reeeeeally practice some self control to not come home with the whole store 😅
Eco gifting part 1 | I received these books as gifts last holiday season, and I love them so much! This busy year means I’ve mostly just been bookmarking recipes I want to try, but hey - they say the first step to successful project management is planning. I am just in a veeeery long planning phase 🤣
